Pedestrian killed identified

GALWAY — A 40-year-old male has been identified in a fatal car versus pedestrian motor vehicle accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who had been hit by vehicle as Galway resident Daniel Arnold. The operator of the vehicle has been identified as 31-year-old Neil Batholoma, of Middle Grove.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s office received a report at approximately 3:26 a.m. of a car versus pedestrian motor vehicle crash on Route 29 and Benzal Road in the town of Galway in the area of Village Pizzeria.

Responding deputies located Arnold who had been struck by a Ford F150 pick up truck that was being driven by Batholoma.

A preliminary investigation into the crash determined that Arnold had walked into the path of the oncoming vehicle and was struck. Batholoma stopped and waited for the arrival of patrols. According to the release, there was no evidence that Batholoma was impaired.

The incident remains under investigation.
