Area cancellations

The following is a list of area cancellations due to concern over the virus COVID-19. This is a work in progress and will be updated daily:

∫ Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S. Main St., Gloversville has temporarily suspended the Friday’s Table dinners until further notice due to the threat of spreading the COVID-19. As soon as practical, the Friday Table dinners will resume and the public will be notified.

∫ Due to COVID-19 concerns, Mohawk Valley Chorus has canceled its performance “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace” on Sunday, March 15, at the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam. The group hopes to reschedule in the spring.

∫ FMCC baseball game at County College of Morris on Monday, March 16, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Chesapeake College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Tuesday, March 17; Garrett College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Thursday, March 19; and Ocean County College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Thursday, March 19.

∫ Odyssey of the Mind Regional 21 competition at Johnstown High School on Saturday is canceled.

∫ In Lake Placid, the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s final four and the CAN/AM Challenge Cup for younger players — have been canceled.

∫ There will be no school for students in the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District on Thursday, March 19. The district will use both March 19 and Friday, March 20, a planned superintendent’s conference day, to prepare instructional staff for the possibility of a school closure because of COVID-19.

∫ Amsterdam St. Paddy’s Day Pub Fest for Saturday has been canceled.

∫ A petition signing party for Tedra Cobb scheduled for Sunday, March 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Rich Shapiro and Lindy Ellis’s house in Saranac Lake has been canceled.

∫ Gloversville high school’s performance of “Footloose, the Musical” scheduled for March 13, 14 and 15 has been postponed to a later date.

∫ The Broadalbin Youth Commission Home Show and Craft Fair schedule for March 21 and 22 has been canceled.

∫ Due to coronavirus cautionary measures, Johnstown Public Library has canceled the annual indoor mini-golf event set for today. Tickets will continue to be sold for the basket raffle through April 6.

∫ All HFHO BOCES will close all schools and and extracurricular activities starting Monday, March 16, which affects the Dolgeville area.

∫ Effectively immediately, all NYSPHSSA Section 2 scrimmages, non-league and league contests have been suspended until April 19.
