GJSD board approve items
JOHNSTOWN — The Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education on Wednesday approved various personnel items, including the appointment of spring coaches.
Appointed at the board’s business meeting at Johnstown High School, along with their specific stipends, were:
Jon Jennings, baseball head coach — $3,770; Jay Holland, baseball assistant — $2,777; Gary Hall, baseball assistant — $2,579; Shawn Cotter, baseball unpaid assistant; Tyler Hall, baseball unpaid assistant; Scott Petrie, boys lacrosse head coach — $3,770; Patrick Fleming, boys lacrosse assistant — $2,777; Scott Murphy, boys lacrosse unpaid assistant; Matthew Benton, boys lacrosse unpaid assistant; Denise Benton, girls lacrosse head coach — $3,770; Tracy Ringer, girls lacrosse assistant — $2,777; Christine Krempa, girls lacrosse assistant — $2,331; David Sargent, girls lacrosse unpaid assistant; Katie McCumber, softball head coach — $3,770; Erica Fitzpatrick, softball assistant — $2,777; Ron Savoie, softball unpaid assistant; Melissa Kaszuba, track head coach — $3,770; Lisa VanAernam, track assistant — $2,777.
The board also passed a separate resolution approving winter coach Ryan Wilcox as a girls basketball unpaid assistant.
In other personnel moves, the board approved a child care leave of absence for Katie Warner, elementary teacher, anticipated from May 21 through Sept. 2 utilizing accrued leave time.
Board members approved an unpaid extension of child care leave of absence for Samantha Johnson, teaching assistant, from Feb. 10 through April 10.
Lisa Harbison, was given a probationary appointment as a teaching assistant, retroactive to Jan. 17 and running through Jan. 16, 2024, at a rate of $12.63 per hour for seven hours per day.
The board approved the term appointment of Melissa Miles, as mathematics curriculum and instructional leader, retroactive to Oct. 1, 2019 and running through June 30, with a stipend of $2,500 prorated.
A temporary full-time appointment was made for Jamie Miller, custodial worker, retroactive to Jan. 29 and running through June 30 a rate of $15.41 per hour.
The board also named these substitute custodial workers through June 30 at a rate of $11.80 per hour: Gary Luck, Diana Snell and Saphire Bush.
