Man critically injured following UTV accident

BLEECKER –A utility task vehicle (UTV) operator was critically injured in a crash investigated by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department after a 911 call at about 6 p.m. Sunday on Barlow Road.

A sheriff’s news release issued this morning indicated Joshua Gagne, no age or address provided, was badly injured. The operator of the UTV required extrication and was transported by Mercy Flight Helicopter to Albany Medical Center and remains in critical condition, the release said.

Deputies said Gagne’s UTV was traveling southwest on Barlow Road before failing to keep right and crossing into the oncoming lane. The UTV exited the highway off the northeast shoulder of the highway, overturning and striking multiple trees, the release said.

Sheriff Richard Giardino couldn’t be reached on Monday.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting were the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Meco Volunteer Fire Department, Fulton County Emergency Services coordinators, GAVAC, and state Department of Environmental Conservation rangers.
