Gloversville Fire

The Gloversville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 229 Bleecker St. Saturday at 10:56 a.m., according to a press release. A contractor hit the entrance cable to the home with a nail from a nail gun causing an electrical arch and the house to catch fire. The fire extended to several concealed spaces in the walls and a roof assembly on the side of the house. Members from Johnstown and Gloversville Fire Departments spent over an hour chasing the fire and trying to extinguish it. Due to the high temperature outdoors, additional battalions were called in to cover and help take up equipment when the fire was extinguished. “The guys did a great job battling the heat and the fire,” said Gloversville Fire Chief Thomas Groff in the release. (Photos courtesy of Wrandy Siarkowski and Gloversville Fire Department)
