Murder in Amsterdam being investigated

AMSTERDAM — City police are investigating the homicide of a 37-year-old man who was found dead at his residence at 17 Lefferts St.

The 37-year-old was found by his girlfriend. Police are not releasing any names at this time.

Detective Joseph Spencer with the Amsterdam Police Department said a 911 call came in at 10:31 p.m. on Wednesday for an injured male.

Spencer said upon arrival he was determined to be dead at the scene.

“No arrests have been made at this time,” Spencer said. “There is no indication of any public danger.”

As for the cause of death, Spencer said that police are not going to release any information at this time.

According to police, additional details will be released pending the investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Spencer said. “There are many leads, we’re investigating all avenues, but we still encourage anyone who has any information to contact police.”
