911 caller dies while calling
MAYFIELD — An autopsy revealed the cause of death of the Mayfield man who became unresponsive while on the phone with 911 dispatch on Sunday as natural causes.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, state police responded to a residence in the town after 911 was contacted of an altercation.
According to police, 55-year-old Melvin E. Yager, of Mayfield had returned home and entered into a dispute with a juvenile who had been residing with him.
Once the altercation ended, Yager left his residence to call 911 to report the incident.
According to police, while Yager was on the line he suffered a “medical event and became unresponsive.”
He was transported to Nathan Littauer Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted and his cause of death was determined to be natural causes.
