Mayfield festival postponed

MAYFIELD — The Mayfield community winter carnival has been postponed to Feb. 23, on the Mayfield Lake on Pump House Road, located off Woodside Avenue.

It was canceled for Saturday due to open water conditions along the shoreline caused by rains and warm weather, according to village officials.

The following is the scheduled events.

∫From 8 a.m. to noon youth fishing contest for up to age 15 with a parent. Sign up at Fuel & Food, Route 30.

∫ Festivities start at 11 a.m. and include broom ball, ice skating, football toss, ice golf, kids hockey puck game, football toss game and ice bowling.

∫ From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. children and adult frying pan contest. The winners will be announced at 1 p.m. You do not have to be present to receive a prize.

∫ At noon fishing contest ends and winners will be announced.

∫ At 12:15 p.m. kids cardboard box derby — up to age 12. The box must be made out of cardboard and can use glue, duct tape and paint, etc. Absolutely no sled may be attached to any box. Prizes for most original, most creative and travelling the farthest.
