Fonda Fair kicks off tomorrow

FONDA — The Fonda Fair will kick off its 176th year starting Wednesday and continuing through Monday, according to a news release.

Opening day is Children’s Day. Children younger than 14 get in free all day and can register for a chance to win a bicycle. Four bikes will be part of the giveaway. The New York Tractor Pullers Association’s tractor and truck pull will begin at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, the fun continues with a day full of events, wristband specials and shows. A tractor driving contest will be held at 1 p.m. and at 7 p.m. The day’s events will also include a demolition derby or chance to be a cowboy/girl at a rodeo.

Friday, is another Children’s Day. Children under the age of 14 will again get in free all day, and there will be another bicycle giveaway. Animal shows, the baby contest and the kiddie pedal tractor pull will take place during the day. In addition, the 4-wheel drive outlaw gas truck pull will begin at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, fairgoers will experience a rabbit-hopping contest and the a demolition derby. The Farm Bureau’s will sell a giant ice cream sundae. At 6 p.m., a monster truck and motorcycle show will be held, followed by fireworks at dark.

On Sunday, bring an unwrapped toy for Toys For Tots “Stuff The Ambulance!” The public may saddle up for the western and huntseat horse show, watch the fourth annual Convoy for a Cause parade, and beginning at noon watch the fifth annual firemen’s field day competition and the midway opening. At 6 p.m. is the semi and 4-wheel diesel truck pull.

On Monday, Sept. 4, the fair concludes. Everyone gets in free until noon, and all fireman and military personnel with proper ID get in free all day. A day will consist of the garden tractor pull at 11 a.m., the midway opens at noon, DJ Kwazy Tunes plays from 2 to 7 p.m., and the demolition derby occurs at 6 p.m.

Daily events will include midway rides, 4-H demonstrations, the Heather Brooke Clydesdales Six Horse Exhibit, “WHODUNIT” karaoke contests, Rosaire’s Royal Racers racing pig show, the K9’s in Flight Flying Frisbee and Dock Diving Dog Show, the Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo and Strolling Dinosaur, and Nature Ninjas Defenses of the Animal Kingdom.

Daily $25 unlimited ride wristband specials will be available. General admission is $10 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 11, free for children under 6, and $5 for senior citizens on Wednesday and Friday. Presale mega tickets are $27 and include admission to the fair and an all-day wristband. Presale tickets will be available until Tuesday, Aug. 29.
