History Book Club set to meet Feb. 3

FONDA — The Montgomery County Department of History and Archives will be having the revival of its History Book Club, according to a news release.

Montgomery County Historian Kelly Yacobucci Farquhar, in partnership with Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, will have a discussion on Feb. 3, of Everything Worthy of Observation: The 1826 New York State Travel Journal of Alexander Stewart Scott by Paul G. Schneider Jr.

The book is an account of the trip taken by Scott across New York state in 1826.

Schneider was an independent historian and member of the National Coalition of Independent Scholars. He worked for New York State Parks’ Bureau of Historic Sites and retired as the state’s first museum security specialist.

If the book is purchased from SUNY Press excelsior editions, a portion of the $31.95 purchase price will go to the New York State Library.
