Events planned for holiday season
MAYFIELD — The Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main St., has the following several events planned for the Advent and Christmas season, according to a news release.
— Today and Wednesday, church members will be Christmas caroling outside at local nursing homes as well as various homes of shut-ins.
— At 7 p.m. Monday, a longest night Blue Christmas service will be held at the church. This service is for those who are looking for a quite contemplative service to celebrate the birth of Christ and who may find the pressures and the frenzy of the season overwhelming.
Stop by the church to see the Christmas tree Advent wreath. Each week, a tree of different colored lights will a reminder of the four weeks of Advent leading up to the Christ candle-tree which will be lit on Christmas Eve.
An indoor-outdoor Christmas Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. It will be a candlelight/communion service beginning in the sanctuary and ending outside around the Advent wreath/trees with the singing of Silent Night.
