Nick Stoner seniors host meetings
CAROGA LAKE — The Nick Stoner Seniors meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 17, by Grace Eglin, president with “The Lord’s Prayer,” Pledge of Allegiance and Hello to your Neighbors, according to a news release.
Marion Snell, secretary, gave those present a copy of the Oct. 20, meeting minutes which were accepted.
Snell gave the treasury report for Shirley Holliday, who was absent due to the surgery she will have on Nov. 23. Jean Griffin gave the hospitality report; Marylou Paterson gave the sunshine report. Edna Bennet had no trip report — due to COVID-19, they are on hold. Eglin passed out pictures of the third grade students with their dictionary project.
Each student sent a thank you note which Eglin read. Eglin will make a scrapbook of the notes.
The seniors received correspondence from Linda Stevens thanking the group for the gift of appreciation she received. The dictionary project sent a thank you for the donation to the Dictionary Project.
In old business, the election of officers took place.
Since there were no opponents and due to the COVID pandemic, Snell cast one vote for Paterson for president; Griffin for vice president; Janice McLoughlin for secretary and Barbara MacFee for treasurer. The swearing in will take place on Dec. 15.
Griffin and Marie Shoop gave a report on the library at the town hall.
They rearranged the shelves and rotated books and will do they can to keep it up. Anyone in the town can borrow books and puzzles from the club’s library.
Sharon Fenstermacher took attendance — 11 people were present and sold raffle tickets. Griffin and Shoop set up refreshments.
The winners of the raffle were Griffin and Eglin.
