Drop-off clean-up program slated

BLEECKER — The town of Bleecker and the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste will co-sponsor a municipal drop-off clean-up program from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday behind the town barn each day, according to a news release.

The town residents only will be allowed to dispose of old furniture, appliances, garage and attic cleanup projects and do-it-yourself home improvement project materials such as siding, shingles and lumber. A maximum of four tires per person per day will be accepted, and they must be off the rim.

The program is not available to commercial haulers, businesses or institutions. Old appliances will be placed separately from garbage, as old stoves, refrigerators, freezers, etc. are recycled.

The following items are not acceptable for this program: vehicle batteries, paint, motor oil, curbside recyclables or regular weekly trash.

Electronics will also be accepted for recycling. The residents are reminded that electronics are accepted year round at all transfer stations, and at the Department of Solid Waste, during regular hours of operation.

For more information on the cleanup and other programs, contact the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste at (518) 736-5501.
