Stop-DWI effort starts on Friday
FONDA — The Montgomery County Police agencies will participate in a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving. The statewide Stop-DWI crackdown efforts will start Friday and will end July 6, according to a news release.
The Fourth of July extended weekend is historically a deadly period for impaired driving. This year the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday so MCP expects heavy traveling to begin on Thursday and festivities to begin on Friday and run through Monday.
The New York State Police and county sheriff and municipal law enforcement agencies will collaborate across the state and will be out in force in this coordinated effort to aggressively target those who put lives in danger.
The statewide Stop-DWI Crackdown Campaign also targets Labor Day weekend, Halloween and the national holiday season in December.
Stop-DWI Coordinator Jeff Kaczor reminds everyone that they are responsible for their own activities — remember what one does not only effects one but effects others as well. Have a plan, don’t drink and drive and stay safe this Fourth of July.
