DMV to re-open starting Monday
JOHNSTOWN — Fulton County Clerk Linda Kollar has announced a schedule for the Johnstown Department of Motor Vehicles to re-open for customer appointments. After delays invoked by the state DMV Commissioner, the local DMV office will begin in-person transactions by appointment only, effective Monday.
The Department of Motor Vehicles has established a new website-based appointment system available at the county’s website fultoncountyny.gov. This online appointment service is for Fulton County residents only. Most driver license transactions can be completed by making an appointment to visit the DMV office at 223 W. Main St.
Customers requiring registration transactions are urged to use the drop box on Main Street or mail if possible. This partial re-opening is for appointments only and walk-in service is not available yet. An announcement on the resumption of full public access to DMV services, including walk-in service, is expected to be made within the next two weeks.
Social distancing, including wearing a mask or facial covering, is required for access to any county office building. The county clerk encourages the public to use mail, email and the drop-box as additional options for reaching DMV whenever feasible.
