FONDA — The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District Board of Education’s monthly meeting and budget workshop will take place today, as scheduled in the middle school multi-purpose room, starting at 6 p.m.

To protect the health and safety of the board members, district staff and community, the meeting will be closed to the public, but streamed live online for those who would like to follow along.

To access the live stream, go to www.fondafultonvilleschools.org/boe. Community members can share comments for the record prior to the meeting by emailing them to District Clerk Lori Maves lmaves@ffcsd.org.

“We have a responsibility to keep our annual budget process on track,” Superintendent Thomas Ciaccio said. “We are utilizing technology to ensure we can still conduct the important business of our district under the extraordinary circumstances regarding COVID-19.”

Recent guidance from the state Education Department addresses the issue of holding Board of Education meetings in light of the circumstances regarding COVID-19:

“Pursuant to Governor Executive Order No. 202.1 issued March 13, the Open Meetings Law requirements for school board meetings have been temporarily modified, through April 11, as such:

“Article 7 of the Public Officers Law, to the extent necessary to permit any public body to meet and take such actions authorized by the law without permitting in public in-person access to meetings and authorizing such meetings to be held remotely by conference call or similar service, provided that the public has the ability to view or listen to such proceeding and that such meetings are recorded and later transcribed.”
