DSS now accepting program applications
JOHNSTOWN — The Department of Social Services continues to accept applications for temporary assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Home Energy Assistance Program and child care, according to a news release. The applicants are encouraged to apply for benefits online through myBenefits.ny.gov. The applicants can apply for SNAP and HEAP and upload documents without having to come to the DSS building. DSS will contact applicants by phone to complete the application process.
Those in need of temporary assistance/Medicaid can print an application from the website myBenefits.ny.gov., complete the application and either mail it to Fulton County DSS, P.O. Box 549, Johnstown; fax it to (518) 762-0080 or, if necessary, bring it to the agency at 4 Daisy Lane, Johnstown NY 12095. Those bringing applications to the agency should first contact DSS by phone at (518) 736-5600. Upon receiving the application, DSS will contact applicants by phone to complete the application process.
To apply for other services, contact DSS by phone at (518) 736-5600 for further guidance. The applications can also be picked up just inside the front door between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
