Applications for educational awards sought
AMSTERDAM — The Mental Health Association in Fulton and Montgomery Counties recently announced that it is accepting applications for two $500 student educational awards.
Students are eligible if they are high school seniors living in Fulton or Montgomery counties, are attending high school on a full-time basis, and will be attending college in the fall to major in a mental health-related track to prepare for a career in the mental health field.
The aim of the MHA award is to encourage the education of young adults to assist in the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses, the promotion of mental health, and the empowerment of adults, children and families whose lives have been affected by mental illnesses.
Two individual $500 awards will be given for college-related expenses for an award winner from each county. Award applications are available at the Mental Health Association in Fulton and Montgomery Counties’ administrative offices, located at 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, and 307-309 Meadow St., Johnstown, as well as MHA’s website at www.mentalhealthassociation.org. Application submissions must be postmarked no later than April 15. Winners will be recognized at the MHA annual dinner on May 28.
