Office for the Aging accepting nominations

JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton County Office for the Aging, 19 N. William St., is accepting nominations for Outstanding Senior Citizen 2020. The forms are available by calling OFA at (518) 736-5650, and they are due back into the OFA on Feb. 21, according to a news release.

The Fulton County’s winner will be decided by the review committee and the winner will join other honorees May 19, at the Older New Yorkers’ Day celebration, hosted by the New York State Office for the Aging, at the Hart Lounge, Albany.

The Older Americans Month is historically celebrated in May. This year’s theme, “Make Your Mark” was selected to encourage and celebrate the countless contributions that older adults make to their communities. Their time, experience, and talents benefit family, peers, and neighbors every day. The communities, organizations, and individuals of all ages are also making their marks. This year’s theme highlights the difference everyone can make — in the lives of older adults, in support of caregivers, and to strengthen communities.
