ADK Mountain Club slated to meet tonight

GLOVERSVILLE — The Adirondack Mountain Club Foothills Chapter will have a program and meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church St. The public is invited to attend. Snacks will be served, according to a news release.

Laurie Freeman, a retired biology and environmental science professor, walked the Appalachian Trail — which is an 18 inches wide, 2,192 mile long national scenic trail. Over the course of 174 days Freeman hiked the entire length from Georgia to Maine. She will present a slide show and talk about the flora and fauna she encountered; the people she met; the gear she carried; what she ate; the challenges she faced; and more.

She spent most of her career at Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
