Annual SoupFest slated for Saturday

AMSTERDAM — The second annual SoupFest will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, throughout the city.

Twenty-one businesses will provide 30 different types of soup to attendees who visit participating restaurants and bars. Food, drink specials, live music, giveaways, contests, and more will take place during the day.

Participants will pay $1 for 3-ounce soup samples at each location and vote at the end of the day for their favorite soup. The city will award trophies for the most unique soup in the city and the best soup in the city. The soup guide and map are available online and can also be picked up at any participating location. The map and guide include a list of all the soups, entertainment, specials and a map of participating locations.

The event is being held under the auspices of the City of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing and Recreation Department.

“I’m so looking forward to hearing this city slurp its way through another wonderful SoupFest on Jan. 25. I’d like to thank Berkshire Farm for sponsoring this great event and also express the city’s gratitude to the 21 soup-making businesses in our community for their participation,” Mayor Michael Cinquanti said.
