Veteran’s Day service Monday

GLOVERSVILLE — The city’s annual Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Servicemen’s Monument in front of City Hall, 3 Frontage Road, according to a news release.

The master of ceremonies will be Keith Shoemaker.

The program will begin with an invocation given by Capt. Wendy Senior of the Salvation Army, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from Gloversville.

The Gloversville High School band will play a selection, directed by John Savage.

Mayor Vincent DeSantis will say a few welcoming words.

State Assemblyman Robert Smullens will deliver the main address, followed by a moment of silence for all deceased veterans.

The wreath-laying ceremony will begin with the wreaths being placed at the monument. The wreath bearers will be boy and girl Scouts from the city.

After the wreaths are placed at the monument, “Taps” will be played by a member of the Gloversville High School band. The band will then play the National Anthem. The program will conclude with benediction by Senior.
