Indigenous people’s weekend at shrine

FONDA — The Saint Kateri National Shrine and Historic Site, 3636 Route 5, will be hosting the Indigenous People’s Weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, a talk by Mohawk Elder Tom Porter from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a Native Mass at 4:30 p.m.

Porter, a member of the Bear Clan of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, is the founder, director, and spiritual leader of the traditional Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohare’ke.

On Sunday, a Native Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.
