Children’s sewing workshop Tuesday

FORT PLAIN — The Fort Plain Free Library, 19 Willett St., will host a children’s holiday-themed sewing workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for children ages 8 to 13, according to a news release.

The workshop will be led by Pamela Boynton, retired family and consumer sciences teacher. Children will learn to hand stitch decorative buttons onto fabric pumpkins to create tiny jack-o’-lantern pouches. Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The program is free. Because of the limited class size, all participants must register in advance.

A subsequent workshop by Boynton will take place in mid-December, during which participants will sew buttons on fabric to create small holiday wreaths.

Boynton taught middle and high school students in the St. Johnsville School District. She formerly owned a business creating medieval costumes and she had one season’s experience sewing costumes at the Sterling Renaissance Festival.
