Worship service set for historic church

ST. JOHNSVILLE — St. John’s Reformed Church will host worship at the historic Indian Castle Church, town of Danube, on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Thomas Flander Jr. will lead the service with guest organist Merrill Rockwell.

Erected in 1769 by Sir William Johnson on land donated by siblings Joseph and Molly Brant, the church was built as an Indian mission for the Mohawk Nation. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Indian Castle Church is the only colonial Indian missionary church surviving in the state.
