Folktales show slated for today

FORT HUNTER — Storyteller Sheila Arnold will perform at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site today at 6 p.m. as part of the annual Not Just for Kids Storytelling series.

Her free performance titled, “Folktales: From Schoharie Hills and Around the Nation,” will take place outdoors under a large tent near the Schoharie Crossing visitor center. The show will move indoors in case of heavy rain. Guests are invited to linger, chat and enjoy refreshments after the show.

Arnold, who comes to Schoharie Crossing from Hampton, Va., has been a full-time storyteller since 2003. She has been the featured storyteller at festivals around the country as well as teller in residence at the International storytelling Center in Jonesborough, Tenn. She is the author of two books and has recorded two CDs.

The Not Just for Kids Storytelling series continues with one more Sunday performance, Sandor Schuman on Sept. 8.
