Cady Stanton garden party set
JOHNSTOWN — The Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association is celebrating Women’s Equality Day with its annual Garden Party, today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Lori and Joe Salamack, 606 S. William St. A highlight of the celebration will be the presentation of this year’s Equality Award to Linda Hinkle.
Congress designated Aug. 26 as Women’s Equality Day in 1971 to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Since then, Women’s Equality Day has served as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to work toward full equality.
The event is catered by Union Hall, offers a cash bar, and is open to the public.
Tickets are $30 per person.
All proceeds benefit the work of The Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association. ECSHA’s current projects include The Sunflower Shoppe on Main Street in Johnstown, which assists women returning to the workforce with their career clothing needs. ECSHA also sponsors Elizabeth and Eileen’s Prom Dress Closet, in addition to the, “Walk in the Footsteps of Elizabeth Cady Stanton” cell phone tour, which tells the story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and her relationship to local sites.
To make a reservation, call Nancy Brown at (518) 773-8800 or email the organization at firstname.lastname@example.org.
