Author to discuss topics from new book
FORT PLAIN — Historian Michael E. Newton will discuss three of the topics to be included in his new book, “Discovering Hamilton,” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Fort Plain Museum, 389 Canal St.
Based on recently discovered legal testimonies from St. Croix, Newton will present new evidence and conclusions about Alexander Hamilton’s birthdate, places of residence, religion, parents, and more.
He will also scrutinize a well-known “fact” about Hamilton’s wedding to Elizabeth Schuyler (took place at the Schuyler Mansion in Albany) and will reexamine Hamilton’s involvement in the Newburgh Conspiracy.
Copies of Newton’s book will be available for purchase for $18, and the author will sign copies. Reserve a copy when registering. Preregistration is required, there is a $10 admission fee. Registration can be done online, by mail or by phone. Visit the museum website at www.fortplainmuseum.com/events.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the completion of the museum’s research library scheduled to open this fall.
