Historical Association to begin 42nd season
CAROGA — The Caroga Historical Association and Museum, 145 London Bridge Road, will begin its 42nd season with a reception featuring artist Phil Jaros and workshop leader Colleen Mosenthin from 7 to 9 p.m. on June 27.
Jaros’s exhibit is titled “Nature Creations” and will be featured in the exhibit barn from June 25 through July 28. He started drawing and sketching in grammar school when he drew and painted a rose for his teacher. At Warren Harding High School, he took four years of mechanical drawing.
As he progressed through high school, he was selected to be the class artist, which required that he illustrate the senior yearbook.
His technical drawing training helped guide his career as he spent 15 years at Taylor Made Products designing a variety of marine products. He then moved on to spend 20 years designing for White Mop Wringer Co., where he used his design skills to convert metal janitorial products–mops, buckets, wringers and squeegees–into a plastic format.
