Alzheimer’s and dementia program set

JOHNSTOWN — HealthLink Littauer, the community health and wellness service of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, announced a program on understanding Alzheimer’s and dementia will be held on Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. at its wellness center, 2 Colonial Court in downtown Johnstown.

“This session is for those facing a diagnosis or anyone wanting to learn more,” said Meagan DeMento, program manager for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York. “We’ll discuss the brain, risk factors, three general stages, treatments available, research and resources.”

Immediately following the presentation, the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Group will meet at 4 p.m. This monthly discussion group is for family members or friends who care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Both meetings are free and open to the public.
