Paul Nigra Center to host art classes

GLOVERSVILLE — The following classes are for the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 Route 30, according to a news release.

∫ From 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday will be cloud painting class in art studio two. Melanie Fay will be the instructor. The cost is $25; discount for members.

Fay will teach those attending step-by-step the painting tricks and techniques needed to make this cloud painting.

∫ From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (May 22, and 29, — two-part class) will be clay coil pots class. Suzanna Van Schoonhoven Hunter will be the instructor. The cost is $55 for pre-registration; $75 at door; discount to members.

This class will introduce students to traditional ceramic hand-building techniques. The class will create projects using pinch, coil and slab methods. The projects will be glazed with lead-free, food-safe glazes in a variety of colors. The pottery gets fired between classes and projects can be picked up after they are fired.

∫ From 10 a.m. to noon May 23 will be a homemade macaroni and cheese class in the teaching kitchen. Andrew Dench will be the instructor. The cost is $25 for pre-registration; $40 at door; discount for members. Bring appetite, as eating is part of the experience.
