MVC annual may concert series set

Mohawk Valley Chorus is getting ready to wrap up its 2018-19 season with its annual May concert series.

Performances are on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Galway High School auditorium and Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m. at Amsterdam High School.

David M. Rossi directs the chorus in a variety of pop, folk, jazz and contemporary standards. Bradley Gregg is the accompanist.

Patricia Valiante will direct the MVC youth chorale.

Caitlin Murray, the 2019 MVC scholarship winner from Broadalbin-Perth Central School, will also be performing.

The theme of this year’s spring pops concert series is “In Remembrance” to honor the late Margaret “Peg” Lazarou, who passed away in January. Lazarou, a member of MVC for more than 60 years and former director of the youth chorale, was a teacher, mentor and friend to many current and former MVC members.

Tickets at both locations are $15 for general admission and $10 for senior citizens and students. All youngsters, 12 and under, are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The tickets are available at the door or, in advance, from chorus members.
