Clean up set to begin

JOHNSTOWN –The city has released guidelines for the Spring Dropoff/Cleanup Program, which runs today through Saturday.

The program is for city of Johnstown residents/property owners only. It will be conducted on Prindle Avenue, behind the Johnstown Senior Citizens Center. It is sponsored by the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste and the city.

Hours for the program are: today — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday — 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Only cars, vans and pickup trucks are eligible to participate. Quantities per individual will be limited to the equivalent of two pickup truck loads. No contractors of dump trucks are allowed.

Accepted items are: furniture, appliances, home improvement project materials and miscellaneous junk. Bulk items and electronics are accepted and will be recycled and must be separated from garbage. There is a limit of four tires per household at no charge accepted, and tires must be off the rim.

Unacceptable items are: hazardous waste, batteries, paint, motor oil, curbside recyclables, and regular weekly trash.
