Spring ‘hawk watch’ planned

ESPERANCE — A spring hawk watch will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 27 at Landis Arboretum, 174 Lape Road.

A hawk identification workshop will be held at 2 p.m.

The purpose will be to observe hawks in migration over the Schoharie Valley. Participants will gather at the meeting house and may see bald eagles, sharp-shinned hawks, osprey, and the longest travelers, broad-winged hawks — among other raptors on the move.

George Steele, science educator, will lead the event.

The cost will be $5 per person or $15 per family for members. Non-members pay $15 per person and $25 per family.
