Search to begin for new superintendent

MAYFIELD — The search for a new superintendent in the Mayfield Central School District takes its first step on Monday with two community meetings — one for staff and one for the community.

The staff meeting will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the community meeting, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Both will be held in the elementary library, 80 N. Main St.

A five-question online survey is on the district’s website at

Participants at the community meeting will be asked the same questions:

∫ What are the strengths of Mayfield Central School?

∫ What needs to be improved?

∫ What characteristics and personal attributes should the new superintendent have?

∫ What will the new superintendent need to work on first?

∫ Do you have any additional thoughts or comments?

A brochure for applicants will be developed. The application deadline will be March 22 with the board of education conducting interviews in late March and early April. The tentative schedule calls for an announcement of a new superintendent to be made on April 16. The person chosen would begin on July 1.

Former Superintendent Jon Peterson left in October. Former Northville Superintendent Kathy Dougherty has served as the interim superintendent.
