GMS to present musical Dec. 7, 8
GLOVERSVILLE — Gloversville Middle School’s drama club will present “Legally Blonde, the musical, Jr.” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 8, and 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the middle school.
Directed by Jennifer Flynn and technical director Michele Zavadil, “Legally Blonde, Jr.” is presented through arrangement with Musical Theatre International.
Legally Blonde Jr. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams, according to a news release. When Elle’s boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
While the story line remains true to the original Broadway, the dialogue and topics keep the Junior version kid and family-friendly.
Tickets will be available at the door for $5, general admission.
