Try for a prize at Wacky Wednesday

GLOVERSVILLE — The following is for the Senior Citizen Service Center of Gloversville and Fulton County, 53 Church St.

Today: 50-55 Plus Club meeting and activities, 1 p.m.; Gloversville Regional Animal Shelter class, 6 p.m.

Tuesday: Tuesday Breakfast Program and coffee hour — $3 donation (poached eggs, toast, sausages), 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday: Free yoga class (donations appreciated), 9 a.m.; coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday Noontime Vittles Program — $3 donation (homemade chili, homemade corn bread, vegetables, fruit, homemade pumpkin cookies), noon; wacky Wednesday — be silly and wear a wacky outfit for a chance to win some non-cash prizes; Gloversville Regional Animal Shelter meeting, 6 p.m.

Thursday: Coffee hour, both 9:30 a.m.; free bread pass out, 10 a.m.; Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery free “High Disguise” presentation — open to all parents and community members. This presentation will give an opportunity to explore a mock teen bedroom. Attendees will learn to recognize hidden drugs and paraphernalia. There will be a depth discussion following the presentation and activity. Open to all adults.

Friday: Free senior coat giveaway in the effort to help area seniors stay warm this winter, the center is offering any man or woman 50 years old and older to stop by the center to pick out a free outside wear such as coat, hat, gloves, boots or sleepwear, pajamas, housecoat, slippers. There are a variety of sizes, styles, colors and prints, 8 a.m.; coffee hour, 9:30 a.m.; Writers Circle, 11 a.m.

Saturday: Breakfast Nook Program — $3 donation (fresh fried eggs, homemade rolls, sausages, fruit, homemade pumpkin raisin bread, 9 a.m.; Breakfast Nook open mic Halloween bash show — wear favorite costume and be entered to win non-cash prizes.

Oct. 28: Foothills United Methodist Church worship and mission center service, 8 a.m.

The center needs the following.

∫ The center needs volunteers for office, planning events, activities and helping in the kitchen with meals. All ages are welcome. Anyone interested in volunteering for a few hours a day, week or month can stop by or call the center for further details.

∫ The food pantry is low and the center seeks new non-perishable food items for area seniors.
