Stanton association to celebrate equality

The Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association will be celebrating Women’s Equality Day with their annual garden party from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at the home of Patsy and Tom Suydam, 601 S. William St. This year, the association has selected community leader, Sandra Maceyka, as the recipient of their Equality Award, according to a news release.

The event will be catered by Union Hall and is open to all. The tickets are $30 per person. All proceeds will benefit the work of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Hometown Association. ECSHAs current projects include The Sunflower Shoppe, Main Street, Johnstown, which assists women returning the workforce with their career clothing needs. ECSHA also sponsors Elizabeth and Eileen’s Prom Dress Closet, in addition to the, “Walk in the Footsteps of Elizabeth Cady Stanton” cell phone tour, which tells the story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and her relationship to local sites.
