Paint exchange each Saturday in August

JOHNSTOWN — The Fulton County Latex Paint Exchange presently has about 150 gallons of good latex paint to give away free. The program, which is open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday in August, is held at the Fulton County Solid Waste Department, 847 Mud Road, according to a news release.

The Fulton County residents can take up to five gallons per person, per week, of free paint. The residents can also drop off good, re-useable latex paint (cans should be half full or more, not rusty and never frozen). The paint is opened and checked before given back out to the public, the news release stated.

The residents with bad paint should dry it out in the original can by leaving it open or mixing in cat litter or sawdust and letting it dry. Once the paint is solidified, the paint cans should be disposed of in regular garbage, with the lid plainly off (so garbage crews can tell there is no liquid paint inside), the news release stated.
