Mayfield to host winter carnival
MAYFIELD — The Mayfield Community Winter Carnival will be held on Saturday on Mayfield Lake on Pump House Road, off Woodside Avenue.
A fishing contest for youths up to age 15, accompanied by an adult, will take place at 8 a.m. Signup is at Fuel n’ Food on Route 30. Prizes will be awarded at noon.
A children and adult frying pan contest will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when winners will be announced. Winners don’t have to be present to get a prize.
A cardboard box derby for youths up to age 12 will be held at 12:15 p.m. Boxes must be made out of cardboard with glue, duct tape, paint and other attachments or decorations. No sled may be attached to a sled. Prizes will be given for the most original, most creative and traveling the farthest.
The day also will include broom ball, ice skating, football toss, ice golf, a kids hockey puck game and ice bowling.
Food will be available from Lynn and Walt’s Walk Up Wagon.
