Regional art show planned for July

GLOVERSVILLE — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 Route 30, will have its fifth annual Regional Art Show, sponsored by Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. This exhibition, formerly the Fulton-Montgomery Art Show, will feature the works of artists who live or work in Fulton, Montgomery and neighboring counties. The art in all media and from any artist within the region is welcome, according to a news release.

The art show will be on display from June 3, to July 8, and will hang alongside a special showcase of the work of a featured artist.

The artists can submit work until April 25, through: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com. This is not a juried show, but this website is used for ease of submission and selection by the curators. The artists who want to submit should visit the website and scroll down until they find the 2021 Regional Art Show or visit https://bit.ly/3ryksK4, where more submission guidelines are available. The artists can also e-mail Brenda Dwyer at: dwyerb@thearclexington.org or visit the NAC to obtain an application form.

The entry fee of up to three works is $15 for NAC members; $25 for non-members. The artists can submit an additional two entries maximum for a $7 fee each for members; $10 each for non-members. The notification of acceptance will be sent out by April 28, and the dates for drop-off or mailing of artwork are May 13-19. Due to changes in protocols necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, each artist will need to make an appointment for contact-free drop-off of their artwork. More information about these new procedures will be included in their acceptance notifications.

Through the donations of supporters, the PNC is able to offer awards and prizes to outstanding submissions. All winners will also receive a membership to the arts center.

The NAC will host a meet the artists opening reception for this show from 3 to 7 p.m. June 10. The reception is free and open to the public. The show will also be available for public viewing throughout its run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. A virtual tour of the exhibition will be posted after the opening reception on the NAC’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/PaulNigraCenter, and website: www.pncreativeartscenter.org.
