Nick Stoner Seniors meet
CAROGA LAKE — The following are the meeting minutes of the Nick Stoner Seniors.
At both meetings: The meeting was called to order by President Marylou Paterson. “Our Father” said by all. The Pledge of Allegiance was said while standing and then Hello Neighbor. The secretary’s report was read by Jan McLaughlin and accepted. The treasurer’s was report given by Barbara MacFee. Jean Griffin gave the hospitality report. The sunshine report was given by Marie Shoop.
The meeting was called to order at 12:33 p.m. A prayer was read.
Prior to the meeting, the group had refreshments of cupcakes and brownies and chips provided by Shoop.
In MacFee’s report, a donation to the Meco Firehouse in memory of Phil Jaros.
Shoop and sent seven birthday cards and one sympathy card.
It was noted that Dottie Blowers is in Nathan Littauer Hospital and Rosemarie Rossbach is in Extended Care; cards would be appreciated.
Shirley Holliday, the membership chair, has called a few members and received some dues.
It was discussed whether it was needed to call all members and tell them that calling ahead to reserve a slot at the meetings is no longer required.
The trip to the Town Line Museum, Johnstown, was mentioned and there is no cover charge. The trip was scheduled for June 17 with an alternate date of June 24. Motion was made and carried.
The senior movie at the Johnstown MoviePlex will start up again soon on Thursdays at 1 p.m.
There will be an open house at the new firehouse through July 31.
There were 12 members. The meeting adjourned at 1:50 pm.
Several members played bingo.
May 4: The meeting was called to order at 12:30.
Prior to the meeting, the seniors had refreshments of ice cream sodas, cookies and chips.
Jean Griffin gave the hospitality report with a donation made by George VanAllen. It was discussed that the group needs to have a place to hold the picnic as the cabana across from town hall will not be available.
Shirley Holliday gave the Membership report.
Grace Eglin noted that she talked to Brown’s in regard to trips. There were about three to four people interested in scheduling a casino trip. A discussion continued regarding trips to Ticonderoga, Alexandria Bay and Boldt Castle. It was also noted there is interest in Lake Champlain.
Dave Nilsen and Paterson brought in recipes for their booklet.
The seniors plan a crafting class after one of our meetings to make things to sell at the museum fair.
Under new business, it was suggested to add street addresses to the membership list so that neighbors will know where everyone lives.
The new Caroga Firehouse is having a fundraiser in which they are selling plaques. The firehouse already had their first helicopter landing.
