9/11 ceremony to be held at Riverlink Park
AMSTERDAM — The city of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing and Recreation Department will be hosting a 9/11 Remembrance ceremony starting at 11 a.m. Friday (Sept. 11) at Riverlink Park, according to a news release.
The ceremony will honor those who lost their lives 19 years ago with the ringing of the bells, taps, lying of the wreath and raising of the flag. The national anthem will be sung by Jeff Samerson, retired Fire Department New York and emergency medical technician. Samerson was a first responder at ground zero. The city of ATMRD will be offering livestream on their Facebook page. All New York state social distancing requirements will be strictly adhered to.
