Food distribution

City and local officials along with volunteers distributed free packages of food to community members at Veterans Field in Amsterdam on Friday to support families in need amidst statewide restrictions that have closed non-essential businesses to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York donated 15 pallets of food to the city for distribution. Food was handed out in drive-thru lines and walk-up lines that separated individuals at six-foot intervals. The event was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. All available food was passed out by 10:45 a.m.
