Area Cancellations

The following is a list of area cancellations due to concern over the virus COVID-19. This is a work in progress and will be updated daily:

Events

∫ The Walter Elwood Nature Club meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Horace J. Inman Senior Center, has been canceled.

∫ St. Mary’s Church Lenten Fish Dinner planned for Friday, is postponed. Ticketholders and sponsors are asked to hold onto their tickets, and not throw them away. The tickets will be honored on the rescheduled date. For those people who wish to request a refund, call the church office at (518) 842-4500.

∫ The Amsterdam Elks Lodge, has canceled the Grand Central Station event that was scheduled for Friday.

∫ The Montgomery County Department of History & Archives has canceled the Coffee with a Historian event scheduled for Friday featuring Bob Cudmore. The event will be rescheduled at a later date.

∫ The Broadalbin Youth Commission Home Show and Craft Fair, schedule for Saturday and Sunday, has been canceled.

∫ The Strikes for Strays event scheduled for Sunday at Arterial Lanes in Gloversville has been canceled.

∫ The Writers Circle author luncheon with Jodie Fitz, scheduled for March 27, at the Gloversville Senior Center has been postponed to a later date because of the coronavirus.

∫ The sportsman dinner to benefit the Wildlife Museum at the Johnstown Moose Club has been canceled. The gun raffle drawing will take place at noon March 28, at the museum. The winner will be phoned.

∫ Elizabeth Cady Stanton Women’s Consortium 2020 Empowering Women Symposium scheduled for March 28 has been postponed. The fee for those already registered will be accepted at the rescheduled event. For a refund, call Cindy Rivera at tt8153@hotmail.com or (518) 506-5616.

∫ The Colonial Little Theatre Board of Directors has canceled the April 23 fundraiser performance of the musical.

∫ The Parkinson’s Advocacy and Alzheimer’s support groups meeting scheduled Thursdays at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church are canceled until June.

∫ All events at the Glove Theater have been tentatively suspended until the end of April.

∫ The Resource Center for Independent Living is postponing the chair yoga for caregivers event, originally scheduled for March 26, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

∫ The Galway Preservation Society’s April 6, meeting has been canceled.

∫ The line dance classes with Sue Kaupelis are suspended until places reopen.

∫ The Mohawk Valley Chorus notice of changes are as follows: The classics concert has been rescheduled for June 7; there will be no rehearsals for remainder of this month; the board will reassess the situation on April 1, and send an update to membership; the turkey dinner scheduled for April 4, has been cancelled; the pie sale has been cancelled — stop taking orders and refund any money collected; the Leatherstocking Honor Flight scheduled for April 25, has been cancelled.

Banks

∫ KeyBank has closed all branch lobbies. Drive-up teller access and ATM’s remain available. Customers can arrange to meet with a banker to make night deposits or access safe deposit boxes by appointment.

∫ Community Bank has closed its lobby until further notice. Drive thru operations and ATM will still be available.

∫ The lobbies of the First Choice Financial Credit Union in both Gloversville and Broadalbin will be closed until further notice. The drive-thru will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Walmart branch will be closed until further notice. The ATM’s will remain open at all three locations.

∫ Berkshire Bank is closing its branch lobbies to unscheduled walk-in customers. Drive-up service, ATM’s, ITMs and scheduled in-person appointments are still available.

Businesses

∫ Per state mandate, all bowling alleys are closed until further notice.

∫ All indoor common portions of retail shopping malls with in excess of 100,000 square feet of retail space are closed until further notice per state order.

∫ All places of “public amusement” indoor and outdoor are closed until further notice including aquariums, zoos, and children’s play centers.

∫ All fitness centers are closed until further notice per state order

∫ Price Chopper/Market 32 will temporarily adjust store hours. All 24-hour Price Chopper, Market 32 and Market Bistro stores will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 7 a.m. Stores will have a preopen time from 6 to 7 a.m. each day reserved exclusively for seniors.

∫ Walmart stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. until further notice.

∫ Dollar General stores are asking all non-senior citizens to avoid shopping in the store during the first hour of operation each day. Stores will also be closing an hour earlier.

∫ Craving Bakery & Cafe will be closed until further notice.

∫ The Home Depot will be closing daily at 6 p.m.

∫ Benson’s Pet Center will be offering curbside pickup. Call (518) 705-4267 to place an order.

∫ Harvey’s Pet Center will be closing its doggy daycare on Saturday with a reopening possible on April 6. Store hours have changed to Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Curbside pickup and in store pickup are available. ∫ The Johnstown Movieplex will remain closed until further notice per state order.

∫ Per state order, all restaurants will be operating as take-out or delivery only until further notice.

∫ Keymark has suspended all job fairs until further notice.

∫ Fitness centers and driver lounges have been closed at all TA Travel Centers. Quick-service meals for take-out, showers, restrooms are still open.

∫ Kohls hours of operations will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

∫ Aldi’s stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

∫ Stewart’s Shops will be limiting promotions and product selection to focus on maintaining essential foods and gasoline service.

∫ No visitors will be allowed until further notice at the Fulton Montgomery Chamber of Commerce building.

∫ The Johnstown Moose 1185 and the Gloversville Moose 351 will be closed until further notice.

∫ The Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, including The Landing Hotel, is temporarily closing through March 31. Normal payroll for team members will continue during the 14-day suspension. For updates during the temporary closure, visit RiversCasino.com.

∫ The Saratoga Casino Hotel is temporarily shutting down. The casino and wagering areas will close. The hotel will remain open; harness racing will resume as scheduled today. To wager on races, visit: SaratogaBets.com or any other New York state approved online waging platform. Employees impacted by the shutdown will receive two weeks pay during the suspension.

∫ Target stores will be closing each day at 9 p.m. In addition, the first hour of shopping each Wednesday will be reserved for the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Libraries

∫ The Johnstown Public Library is closed through March 29. Patrons can borrow digital eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines at mvls.overdrive.com and the free Libby and Overdrive apps for personal devices; keep library materials at home without late fees; reach staff by e-mail: joh-director@sals.edu or on Facebook. The basket raffle ticket sale is suspended and resume March 30, with a new drawing date.

∫ The Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library will be closed until at least March 31.

∫ The Amsterdam Free Library will be closed through March 29.

∫ The Gloversville Public Library will be closed through March 31. Further updates will be announced on the Gloversville Public Library Facebook page.

∫ All on-site groups and programs are canceled at the Fort Plain Free Library until further notice.

Municipalities/Schools

∫ All village elections have been postponed until April 28.

∫ Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the State of Emergency declared by the county executive, all meetings of the Montgomery County Legislature are canceled for March.

∫ The town of Northampton and the village of Northville offices will be closed to the public through March 31, during regular business hours.

∫ HFM BOCES has closed all schools and extracurricular activities.

∫ HFHO BOCES will close all schools and extracurricular activities.

∫ Gloversville City Hall, including City Court, is closed to the public until further notice and all non-essential staff members have been dismissed. Anyone needing assistance with city business can contact the City Clerk’s Office where staff will handle requests at (518) 773-4542 or (518) 773-4545.

∫ The city of Gloversville Water Department Office will be closed until further notice. Water related emergencies can be called into the office from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday at (518) 773-4520. After hours emergencies can be called into the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office at (518)736-2100.

∫ The village and town of Mayfield offices and DPWs will be closed to the public. The municipal building vestibule areas will be open with information and envelopes to utilize the drop box for payment of taxes, water and sewer bills and obtaining other municipal services. Garbage pick up will resume as normal.

∫ Gloversville City Transit has announced the suspension of regular transit service until further notice. Only scheduled medical trips will continue. The suspension of service will be re-evaluated on a daily basis.

∫ A state of emergency has been declared in the city of Johnstown. City hall and the city water department will be closed until further notice.

∫ The town of Amsterdam has declared a state of emergency. The town office building and town garage will be closed to the public and only essential employees will need to report to work as necessary.

∫ The Johnstown Town Hall is closed to the public until March 31. Any business should be done by phone with the building inspector and taxes to be paid should be mailed.

∫ All congregate sites of the Montgomery County Office for the Aging have been closed. Home delivery clients will be receiving a frozen pack of meals for the remainder of the week. Weekly frozen meals will continue to provided until further notice.

∫ The New York state police are suspending employment fingerprinting, along with child safety seat checks at their stations. Troopers are asking that anyone calling 911 advise dispatchers if they or anyone in the household are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

∫ The civil office at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office will be closed until further notice. All forms of visitation at the Fulton County Correctional Facility are suspended.

∫ The Gloversville Enlarged School District Board of Education meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 23, has been canceled, according to a news release.

The next board meeting will take place April 6.

∫ The Perth Town Hall, Community Senior Center, and the town of Perth Highway Garage are closed to the public until further notice. The town board meeting scheduled for April 2, has been cancelled. Any business with the town of Perth can be done by mail, e-mail or phone. There is also a drop box on the wall next to the front door.

Medical

∫ Per the state Department of Health policy, hospital visitation has been suspended at this time. Compassionate exemptions are allowed for family members or legal representatives of patients in imminent end-of-life situations. Those patients should speak to their nurse for more information. Any visitors meeting these exceptions must be screened for symptoms [cough, shortness of breath, or fever] or potential exposure to someone with COVID-19 and the duration and number of visits should be minimized.

Non-profits

∫ The HealthLink Littauer of Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, is canceling all activities scheduled through March 31.

∫ The Fulton County YMCA will be pausing normal operations until the state mandate to close gyms is lifted. The childcare program will remain open.

∫ The start of the second half of the 2020 Girl Scout cookie program has been delayed at least four weeks. All in person events sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York council have been canceled through April 19.

∫˜The Fulton County Museum will be closed to the public and all programs postponed through March 31.

∫ The Fulton County SPCA will be restricting visitors to by appointment only. Supply donation in-take will temporarily suspended.

∫ The Rob Constantine Recovery Community and Outreach Center is closed until further notice. If anyone is in need of assistance with the recovery or have questions, RCRCOC can be reached through its 24-hour Peer Hotline at (518) 705-4627. Check the Facebook page and website: youreinrecovery.com, for updates.

Senior centers

∫ The Johnstown Senior Center will be closed until March 30.

∫ The Gloversville Senior Center has suspended all activities and meal programs until March 30. The food pantry services will still be available. For questions, call (518) 725-0923.

Sports

∫ FMCC baseball game at Garrett College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Ocean County College in Myrtle Beach, S.C. today have been canceled.

∫ All NYSPHSSA Section 2 scrimmages, non-league and league contests have been suspended until April 19.

∫ The Johnstown 5K Triple Crown Race series has been canceled.
