Sewing guild meeting slated
GLOVERSVILLE — The Sew Busy Quilt Guild of Gloversville, will have its business meeting at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 161 South Main St., (Ottaviano Hall). The doors will open at 6:15 p.m. The church is handicapped accessible, according to a news release.
Those interested can come and join the group. If anyone has a show and tell, they may hang it upon coming in. The group enjoys seeing the latest creations.
October is breast cancer awareness. To show support to members, friends and family that have, or are, fighting this battle, the guild is asking members to wear something pink to this meeting to show support. Any pink item attendees have such as an article of clothing, an accessory, or a cap.
There will be a presentation on next spring’s Empire quiltfest and fabric can be picked up for those who want to participate in the challenge.
The program for the evening is Caring and Sharing. Maria Gardiner will share how to take care of oneself sewing and stitching.
∫ The dues, $25, must be paid by the October meeting.
∫ This meeting is the last opportunity to sign up for the block of month challenge this year. The members’ cost is $30 and they will be receiving the fabrics and directions for nine 15-inch blocks. Those who want to participate are to see Rosemarie Knichel.
∫ The sign ups are now being taken for Gardiner’s Scrappy Saturday which will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church. The member cost will be $10 and the deposit is non-refundable. More information will be available at the meeting.
Guests are welcome; the cost is $5.
