Girl Scout Silver Award Achievement

From left in front, Girl Scout Cadettes Amy Brittain, Regan Beck and Abigail Pettica, holding State Assembly citation, are shown with representatives from the Amsterdam Elks, Amsterdam Girl Scout Troop 2281 and troop leaders, parents and family members, and state Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, right, during a recognition ceremony for their Girl Scout Silver Award achievement, the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve. For their Silver Award project they did an artwork project called “Project Keep Swimming” that would re-paint the restrooms at the Amsterdam City Pool, raising funds for the paint and supplies, and put in 337 combined hours to get it done. Positive quotes such as “Create Your Own Sunshine” and “When life throws a shark at you, just keep swimming!” were designed in the artwork to help build confidence in others. (Photo submitted)
