AMSTERDAM — Mohawk Valley Chamber Ensembles, an affiliate of Mohawk Valley Chorus, held a master class and kickoff concert for the program Harmony Bridge on Oct. 18 and 19, according to a news release.

Harmony Bridge Founder Michael Levine flew in from Minnesota to work with the student and adult musicians as they prepared for our first concert at The Sentinel. Levine is the founder and trombonist for the Dallas Brass.

College of St. Rose music education students were also on hand to work with student musicians and observe. The outreach component of Harmony Bridge brings the student musicians into the community to share their music primarily with the elderly population.

Harmony Bridge presents an opportunity for students to realize the power of music, and the power they have as individuals, to bring joy into the lives of others — particularly for seniors who are somewhat isolated and often forgotten.
