Holiday pet portraits event planned Dec. 1

AMSTERDAM — The Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its 11th annual holiday pet portraits for one day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Amsterdam Riverfront Center, according to a news release

A $25 donation includes three printed photos and a holiday photo frame. For a $30 donation, participants will receive a compact disc with all their digital images. The holiday photos of one’s pet can be taken by itself, with Santa or with the whole family. Also welcome are individuals and families without pets who would like to have a holiday photo taken, with or without Santa. The photos will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

To insure the safety of all pets and people, all dogs must be leashed and all smaller animals (cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, etc.) must be caged while in the Riverfront Center (except during the photo session).

The event will also include a MCSPCA holiday bake shop. The MCSPCA also will have gift certificates for sale for holiday giving, which may be used towards a pet adoption, the Prevent Another Litter cat spay/neuter program, microchips and nail-clipping.

All proceeds from this annual holiday event will directly benefit the homeless pets at the Montgomery County SPCA Animal Shelter this holiday season. Visit or Facebook, or e-mail for more information about this and other programs of the MCSPCA.

The MCSPCA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in the Montgomery County area.
