Johnstown Citizens Band prepares for concert season

JOHNSTOWN — The Board of Directors of the Johnstown Citizens Band recently held its organizational meeting in preparation for their 110th summer concert season.

The board of directors for 2018 consists of Douglas Dougherty, president, Noel Wing, vice president, Kathy Dougherty, secretary, and Mike Calvello, treasurer. At-large members are Tamara Healy and Carelli.

Conducting the band this year will be Douglas Dougherty. The bands concert season will begin on Friday evening, July 6 and end on July 27.

There will be a new rehearsal and concert start time this season. Band rehearsals will be at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The concerts will be held at the Charles Jenner Memorial Band Shell in the park in downtown Johnstown.

If there is inclement weather, the band will perform inside at the Johnstown Episcopal Church next to the band shell.

The band is sponsored in part by the city of Johnstown and donations from area businesses and merchants.
